Only God can…

Here’s just a quick little thought I had from yesterday…the much used phrase “Only God can judge me” is very interesting and true.

Yes, of course only God can judge us. The really scary part is sometimes we can be judged while on earth and from anyone, at anytime, in any way. That’s pretty scary. Its like the song/phrase, “What goes around, comes around.”

We have life thanks to God’s mercy and grace!

May my life please you today Lord!

Fight the battle of the mind

If the words in Matthew 5:28-30 were literally enforced, there would be a lot of blind people going to Heaven. Probably 9 out of 10 guys would be blind.

These days we, guys and girls, are surrounded by temptations. We have to fight the battle of the mind each day, me included. Tv, movies, internet, music videos, and out in public, seems like temptation is everywhere.

Is it just me or is the designs of clothes these days aimed at advertising the wearer’s features? Not to mention all the enhancements. Now, they are advertising something you put in your shoes to make you taller. Geez! Trust is, everywhere we go, we will encounter temptation. There is a “person” out there doing whatever it can to make us fall in to temptation. I’m not saying to lock yourself up in your room and wait till Jesus comes, but be alert and know we are all being targeted by these temptations. Some person would like nothing better than to get us all separated from our Heavenly Father by leading us down the wrong path that BEGINS with entertaining the temptations that enter into our mind. The trick is being able to “change the channel” in your mind when temptations enter into it (your mind). There isn’t MUCH we can do about the temptations getting in, unless you live on a remote island all by yourself with no civilization or devices/electricity, but we can choose to “change the channel.” Stop the temptation before it leads to actions. As 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, with the temptation (He) will also make a way of escape (NKJV).

Fight the DAILY battle! Change the channel! Seek His help!

Just like the song we learned in Sunday school…”be careful little eyes what you see…”

Last night I had the privilege of driving some members of our church worship team to US Airways arena for them to audition to sing the National Anthem for the December 16th Suns vs Trail Blazers game. On the way there, while I was driving them in our preschool bus, they were practicing and I was almost in tears! It was incredible…the sound reverberating off the walls…the power in their voices! I don’t use this word much, but it was BEAUTIFUL!

For the hundreds of NBA players who may not be famous enough to be offered a short term contract to player overseas, I hope this NBA lock out ends soon. Yes, I have my selfish reasons…I want our worship team to perform before thousands of Suns fans and create some buzz for Grace Walk Community Church! We want to grow the Kingdom of Heaven and for people in our community to know the love of our Savior! I hope people in attendance of the December 16th church recognize the name “Grace Walk Community Church” and realize its the church they drive by everyday, and choose to stop by and meet our loving Savior!

Our church will be going to that December 16th game pending the end of the lock out (and being allowed to sing the National Anthem) and we will be selling special group rate tickets *that won’t have any ticketmaster or stub hub fees or taxes* for $15.

Lord, we ask that the NBA lockout ends! We ask for your favor as we try to draw others to YOU so that YOUR Name may be glorified! Amen!

The Wilderness…

While reading and praying today, I felt a thought come to mind…through some choices that were made, in one area of life, I’ve been wandering around in the wilderness for years waiting to get into the Promised Land.

I can only imagine how great the Promised Land will be once I get there!! I can’t wait!! In this post, I’m not referring to Heaven…just the Promised Land of blessings from doing things His Way and applying His principles in my life!! After wandering around in this wilderness for a few years, I will NEVER want to come back to it again!!

I want to do it His Way from now on and see the Promise Land during MY lifetime!!! Lead me Lord!!!

Malachi 3

For months now, the later portion of all my morning prayers contain “rebuke the devourer”. I just love those Words and the power/authority behind them. The devil wants to steal, kill, and destroy, but God wants to bring life and life more abundant.

For me, I’m believing in God’s principles from His Word and recently let His Word convict me in this area. Tithing for me is easy, but lately, I’ve withheld the offering above the tithe. I can’t afford to do this ANYMORE! I believe, that according to His Word, that if I REALLY want Him to “throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out a blessing that I don’t have room to contain” that I will have to start sowing that seed above the tithe. We rob God in “tithes and offerings”, which literally means by withholding BOTH, not just 1.

The devourer being rebuked is GREAT, but I want a FLOOD of BLESSING! I believe the flood is linked to the offering & tithe…not just the tithe.

I need a flood, therefore can’t withhold the offering!

“Lord, send a flood my way!!!”

God doesn’t issue out bailouts…He just honors His word. If we are not robbing Him (yes, it does say ROBBING in the Bible, look in Malachi 3) in tithes and offerings, then He will keep His Word! The best part of His Word is that He REBUKES the devourer! Things break down less and last longer, or He gives you the provision to replace with something better! Don’t rob God! Put Him to the test! See if He won’t release a flood of blessing into your life! You can’t afford not to (tithe & offering)! 90% (+ an offering) lasts longer in His economy!
